Ray challenged all of us to make the right data-driven decisions by moving away from point estimate goals towards statistically bound goals. In other words, don’t make a short-sighted decision to hit $538M NPV if a better business decision for the future only reaches $535M NPV on that project. In answering one of the questions, he also left us with an important leadership tip: “It’s easy to use slides, but you need to execute.” 

Ray Carpenter works at one of the newest and fastest-growing businesses within AT&T. With the acquisition of AppNexus, Xandr is well-positioned to capture the expanding addressable advertising market. Having already built out deals with Altice USA and Frontier Communications, they’ve seen double- digit revenue growth and are on target for their goals, which he says are statistically bound instead of point estimates.
